MUJI (Hong Kong) Company Limited (hereinafter referred as the “Company” or “we”) is committed to safeguarding the privacy of Users in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance of Hong Kong (for the case of Users from Hong Kong) and Personal Data Protection Act of Macao (for the case of Users from Macao) as well as our privacy policy. We ensure that our employees handle the personal information of the Users (as defined in the “Terms of Use”) in accordance with the strictest standard of security and confidentiality.
1.1 We respect the privacy of all Users. We do not collect excessive personal information from Users for the purpose of providing our services and protect the personal information provided by Users in their account.
1.2 Unless otherwise specified, we do not allow any third party to acquire or handle User Information without User’s authorization.
1.3 We protect and handle User Information in accordance with this Statement. We do not use the User Information for purposes other than provision of the Service and related services, nor disclose such User Information to any third party.
When Users use the "MUJI app HK & Macao" mobile application (“MUJI app”) and/or register to become MUJI app members, we will collect the Users’ personal information (“User Information”) for the following purposes:
2.1 To verify the User’s identity, establish User’s membership profile, and provide the Service and related services. This may include identifying the mobile device used by the User and collecting birth month for birthday rewards.
2.2 To tailor our service through cookies and IDFA, based on browsing behavior, ads viewed, or purchase history.
2.3 To provide services and support, including contact details and service request history, and updates regarding our products and services.
2.4 To conduct statistical and analytical usage of User Information for service development or improvement.
2.5 To respond to inquiries and maintain communication through emails or other channels.
2.6 To promote our products and services or send member communications. We may collect name, email, and phone number for this purpose.
2.7 If Users join activities or promotions, we may collect names, emails, and phone numbers of Users and participants for follow-up.
2.8 Any other directly related purposes.
2.9 We may also use User Information in the following cases:
2.9.1 To report suspicious activity – If there is any verified harmful act, we may report to affected parties or authorities.
2.9.2 To investigate complaints – We may use User Information to investigate and resolve complaints, claims, or disputes related to our services.
2.9.3 Others – If User Information is to be used beyond these purposes, the details will be published on the Service webpage.
3.1 Third-party business partners – We may provide User Information to contracted service providers for necessary support (e.g., admin, tech support, logistics, marketing). All partners must comply with our privacy standards.
3.2 Affiliated companies – We may share User Information with our group companies (inside or outside Hong Kong and Macao) for the stated purposes.
3.3 Legal disclosure – Information may be disclosed as required by law, court orders, search warrants, or legally binding inquiries.
3.4 User acknowledges that User Information may be transferred, stored, or processed outside of Hong Kong or Macao by our service providers or staff.
4.1 As stated in 2.6, we only use User Information for marketing with prior consent or opt-in. Users can opt out anytime and we will remove their name from our distribution list, while retaining contact info for customer service (e.g., service updates or disruptions).
4.2 We do not share User Information with third parties for direct marketing without User consent.
4.3 Unless otherwise required by law, User Information is retained only as long as necessary for the stated purposes. When no longer needed, we will delete or anonymize such data securely.
4.4 We do not sell User Information to any third party.
5.1 Users have the right to check whether we hold their personal information.
5.2 Users have the right to request correction or update of inaccurate or outdated personal information.
5.3 Users may request deletion of their account and associated personal information.
5.4 Users may contact us via email or phone to access or update data. For account deletion, please follow in-app instructions. Contact details can be found in “Contact Us”.
5.5 For Hong Kong Users: As per Section 19(1) of the PDPO, requests will be responded to within 40 days. If refused, notification will be given under Section 19(2) or 21(2).
5.6 For Macao Users: Under Article 11 of the Macao Data Protection Law, data subjects can access the above details within a reasonable time and without excessive cost.
5.7 We may review and update this Statement from time to time. Any change will take effect immediately upon posting on MUJI app. Continued use of the Service indicates acceptance of updates.
In case of any discrepancy between the Chinese and English versions of this Statement, the English version shall prevail.
